On Saturday 5 July the hall belonging to the Church of the Resurrection ("the Res") in Ely, Cardiff, was the setting for a lively evening of ceilidh dancing, set up by Sue Faragher Downes in memory of her late husband, Chris, who sadly died very suddenly in February of this year. Chris was a great fan of Scottish country dancing and of ceilidh dancing, and he would have loved the fun and camaraderie of the dance-floor that night.

It was a huge tribute to both him and to Sue herself that dancers came along from a whole range of different communities: friends and colleagues from the neighbourhood, from the church, from Sue's work-place, and from the Scottish Country Dancing network all over South Wales, from Pembrokeshire to Gwent and lots of places in between, as well as dancing friends who travelled up from the West Country. The event was generously supported by the Res, with several of the clergy not only attending but also participating actively in the dancing, including Jan, the vicar.

Our thanks go to all who helped to make this such a fitting commemoration of  Chris's fun-loving spirit.
