What a lovely turn-out we had for our dance in Rhiwbina, Cardiff, on 7 June! About 80% of the class attended, along with dancers from other groups (far and wide). We particularly appreciated the fact that some of the dancers travelled considerable distances to be with us (West Wales, Bristol and Hampshire). We also appreciated that more experienced dancers readily helped our newer dancers. We are thrilled that less experienced class members have been able to have such a relaxed time at an event with live music. The smiles and laughter delighted us.

Our musician, John Browne, continues to struggle with a problem with the fingers on his right hand. However he has found positive ways of coping with this, and some of the sets he played for us gave us a real lift. He helped to generate a great atmosphere, and dancers seemed to respond with great enthusiasm to his playing of Portincaple Oak, Mrs MacLeod and Kilkenny Castle in particular.

Advance notice: next year’s June dance will be held on Saturday 6 June 2026, with music by Ian Muir of Prestwick on the accordion. Ian is just about to be come the Music Director of the RSCDS. Put the date in your calendars – not to be missed!
