Eight dancers from Cardiff & the Vale visited Ely Court Care Home on the afternoon of 25 January and put on a demonstration of nine dances, including dances with Burns connections. Among these were the strathspey The Lea Rig, and the jig The Linton Ploughman, with as its first tune an avowed favourite of Burns’s, “The Muckin’ o’ Geordie’s Byre”. We also read part of “To a Mouse”.

Our audience showed a lot of interest and appreciation. Rhythmic clapping and foot-tapping, as well as bells and a tambourine accompanied some of our dances, and for the circle dance The Loch Ness Monster we were thrilled to be joined by seven or eight staff and residents. One of the staff members and her daughter may even join our Tuesday Class!
